Videos of the travels of Railfan Danny Harmon.
Born and raised in Florida, I love Florida railroads, but I am trying to range out to more states.
I currently shoot with a Sony AX-700 camcorder, a GoPro Hero 7 Black and a DJI Air 2 drone. With the addition of the new Sony, I'm shooting and publishing everything in 4K now.
I edit on an iMac using Final Cut Pro X and create graphics with Apple Motion 5.

Trains Across The Interstate
This is a railfanning trip to Lakeland to find out about the new I-4 underpass on the Vitis Sub. But it also led me out to find a bunch of Amtrak action.

The Seaboard Coast Line Reborn
Переглядів 66 тис.Місяць тому
The Florida Central Railroad, a shortline with branches in Orlando, Ocala, Winter Haven and Lake Wales, recently started a program to paint a few of their locomotive in predecessor road colors. The predominant predecessor road for them in Florida was the Seaboard Coast Line. I set out to find one of their black and yellow homages.

I made this video after receiving a question from a viewer asking what were Divisions and Subdivisions? I threw in Junctions because I've had a few questions about those as well.

This is from a question I got about different types of railroad switches. I tried to find and include as many as I could, but there are still more types out there.

Why Locomotive Numbers Are Important
Very nice Danny thanks good to see this again
Cool Vide! Just Subbed to Your Channel! Cool Stuff!!
Another great video. God bless you and your channel❤
18:13 - Do you know UA-camr MillenniumForce ? He also shows CSX in Florida.
Yes, Alan Smith out of Plant City.
I have seen Practical Engineering too. 👍
7:01 - Is the second locomotive an older one? . . GE Genesis ?
Yes, the GE is trailing. The newer, German-looking engine is leading.
@@distantsignal I like seeing examples of both here.
Ive noticed the Silver Meateors and Stars are returning to their pre-covid lengths recently, definitely a sign of the population boom in florida. Great video as always Dan!
They might have to close that interstate when they start putting girders up and when they demolish the old bridge most of the time if interstates close for bridge demolitions or girder setting they do it at night or during off peek hours
2:44 - I think there will be 2-way traffic on half the road while the bridge girder is placed over half of I-4. . . . not fully closing the road to detour around.
fascinating I've been trying to figure this out since I was a baby!!!!
Danny for one Happy Father's Day I have a question Danny instead of Amtrak backing into Tampa. Why doesn't Amtrak run engines on both ends of there train?
Thanks!. It would not save enough time, plus then you'd have an engine running up against the station in Tampa and it would push the coaches farther away. Anyway, you'd have the turn the train at some point, otherwise the train would be running backwards.
Great video. Very informative. Now I know why the eot is also called the Freddy.
Awesome video Danny! The fence looks great! A few weeks back I drove from Ft Myers to St Augustine the long way on purpose. The route took me through Okeechobee. I caught the Silver Meteor pulling in the station and leaving the station. The engineer showed some horn love. Not sure if he’s always like that or just because I was there. I’ll send you the clip.
Thanks! Yeah, I love following that old SAL route through Okeechobee. Lotta history still there.
great video and good job on the fence!
Many thanks, Jack
The fence is looking good!
Thanks!
Nice job catching those trains Danny keep it up, please And be safe out there, please
Love your videos Danny! Like the food reviews too (even though I'm not from Florida lol)
I don’t know why but it made me happy knowing that I’m not the only one who refers to TTX cars as “T-BOX.” I thought that everyone else said T-B-O-X and that was just me and my company :)
Hello Danny. As always, I was happy to see another video posted tonight. My question. What is the passenger load on the Amtrak. Are we carrying pretty full trains everyday? We only see a few passengers getting on and off. Are we carrying a lot from point to point like Miami to New York?
Another gr8 video, Danny! Keep up the good work! 👍
I bet Danny has one heck of a train layout !
It would be so ironic and hilarious to find out that he deeply disdained model railroads! 😲🤣
the well cars do come as a set of 5 or 3, "slang" for them is either "5 pack" or "3 pack". they do count as 1 car, but on the train they are counted as "car bodies". so an 8 car train would have 40 car bodies (assuming they are all 5 packs).
DS is the gold standard for quality narration 👌
Why is there so much passenger service in florida?
New Yorkers going to Miami and Orlando.
Did brightline get any new Engines lately saw 3 new ones went threw London Ontario just about 4 weeks ago
Danny, thanks for a great video. It was nice to see someone in the Amtrak engine wave at you!
If a diamond needs replaced or repaired, who pays?
Everyone knows when Danny's filming. Note at 8:30 the engineer waved. Great work Dan The Man.
You may have covered this in another video but, what brand/type of radio are you using? A modified business band or an amateur radio? I have noted that the microphone is removed, so it is a transceiver. I use my ham radio to scan frequencies besides ham radio....like public safety and one or two marine band frequencies as well as the MURS frequencies. The radio in my car does NOT transmit on frequencies not intended for amateur (ham) radio...so I have no worries of accidentally 'keying up' over the ambulances/fire trucks/ sheriff's deputies/ etc.....At home my radio scans also....except for the "HF" radios....they are 'locked in' on cw (morse code) frequencies, at the moment....✌
fence looks good!! and i learned something...didnt know about the articulating cars....prettyneat
Definitely agree, when Danny posts, stop, watch, listen and learn! Take care
Love the video Danny. I was over in Florida last week, the first time since COVID. My goodness, I've never been to Florida when it was that hot! I was over in Cocoa Beach. The drive over from Orlando was interesting, with all the construction for the Brightline. I saw a couple of them and some switching over near Titusville. I couldn't stop to photograph them, I was watching rocket launches!
Nice footage and catch on the coal train, looked like rapid discharge hoppers!🛤🚂
Put a coating on the CSX transportation sign to ward off water....
Danny can you identify a RR. Sign that is triangular with orange an white stripes?
I was down in titusville recently, fec restored the station there and being used for whatever they need it for. (Google maps show it closed) Also frequented a local spot there called the american diner. (Great staff and food, highly reccomend.) Im planning to come back to titusville and its area this december.
Great video, Danny! Still got plenty of coal trains rolling through up here in the Tennessee Valley, lol. Kinda interesting to see ToFC on a non-high priority intermodal.
Hey Danny, another great video---do you think the bridge project at Lakeland might also be in anticipation of Brightline running tracks down the median of I 4 for the long anticipated Orlando-Tampa route ?🤔
Another great video Danny , thank you !
Also at 12:50 what's that fluid squirting out?
That GE on the Amtrak leaving Winter Haven at 8:35 took a hit or something was parked pretty close while it was passing
Great video and fence looks great, thanks
Great Video!
Love seeing that potential new electricity rolling down the track. Thanks for anohter great video Danny!
Is it possible to put up a map of the railroads that make up the whole surrounding area of central Florida when you talk about trains going from location to another.
Great new paint on Amtrak.
Danny, do they continue to wet the coal during transportation from mine to customer or is it just a one time process at the loading station to prevent accidental friction fires? As always I enjoy your very well done videos, thank you!
Still a great spot! Trees and gazebo are gone. And I cruise Woody's "Golden Triangle" several times a month and catch trains at different crossings. Including Austell! So thanks Woody! Great seeing old footage of Austell Danny!
Another great video from Mr Railroad himself! Cheers from Melbourne, Australia...
Enjoy always the food review too 🍽️
Another Solid Video chock full of Great Info. Signs on the Wood Fence look Great. Thanks Danny! 👍🙏
Some Marine Varnish might preserve your blue and white CSX Transportation sign. See ya on the next video.
